Abigail B. Sivan. Ph.D., received her B.A.. degree from Oberlin College and her M.A. and Ph.D. degrees from New York University, specializing in educational research and completing her dissertation research at Rusk Rehabilitation Institute. While teaching at Michigan State University, she continued her education in clinical psychology.
From 1975-1981, Dr. Sivan lived in Israel where she worked at the Rehabilitation Division of the IDF, directed the Kibbutz Child Development Center, taught at several medical schools and did research at the Brain Behavior Research Unit at Hadassah/Hebrew University Hospital.
Returning to the US in 1981, she completed her internship at the VAMC in Iowa City where she also researched the applicability of adult neuropsychological measures to normal and special children.
Between 1983 and 1987, she was the staff psychologist at the Child Development Clinic of the Division of Developmental Disabilities at the University of lowa.
Between 1988-1999, Dr. Sivan worked as a pediatric neuropsychologist in the Section of Child Psychiatry at Rush University Medical Center, Chicago.
After two years at Evanston Northwestern Healthcare, Dr. Sivan entered private practice in Chicago where she maintains an appointment as Clinical Associate Professor at Northwestern University Department of Psychiatry.
Her research has focused on neuropsychological test development for children and adults. Dr. Sivan served on the Iowa Board of Psychology Examiners (1985-1987) and on the American Psychological Association's Ethics Committee (1999-2001) and the APA Ethics Code Task Force (2000-2001).
In 1994, Dr. Sivan consulted with the UN Commission on War Crimes in the former Yugoslavia.
